Quinceañera
by Leonie Groß
The one is gay, the other a pregnant virgin.
Wash Westmoreland and Richard Glatzer create an interesting and lovefilled approach to two...
When they turn fifteen Mexican girls still love celebrating their Quinceañera, even if they are living in Los Angeles. This joyful celebration is an important step which signifies coming of age and the dawning of a new era. Unfortunately, when Magdalena tries on her new party dress it doesn’t fit her any more. She is pregnant and experiencing her own Quinceañera before its time. Straying from the ritualised order of the community,Magdalena loses the support of friends and family. The only one she can turn to is an old uncle who has already shown tolerance and given strength to her wayward cousin. This young man has his own special secret, just like Magdalena.Reason to celebrate!
