A true story from a Russian orphanage. An Italian couple who can’t have children of their own is searching for an adoptee. Their desired candidate, six-year-old Vanja, is envied by the other orphans for his expectations of a carefree life in Italy. But Vanja’s plans are very different. He runs away to find his biological mother, chased by the police and the orphanage’s officials, who fear a burst of their very profitable deal.
